Nous

Definition

Mind or intellect; the highest faculty of the soul capable of grasping eternal truths.

Explanation

Anaxagoras introduced nous as the cosmic mind ordering chaos into cosmos. Plato and Aristotle saw nous as the rational part of the soul that grasps forms and first principles. Plotinus made Nous the second hypostasis after the One.
