Virtue

Definition

A morally excellent character trait or disposition that enables one to act well and live a flourishing life.

Explanation

For Aristotle, virtues are habits developed through practice that hit the mean between excess and deficiency. Courage, for example, is the mean between recklessness and cowardice. The Stoics emphasized virtues like wisdom, justice, courage, and temperance as the path to eudaimonia.
